5 Ways I Want To Switch Up My Style

1.16.2019

ately, my style has changed. Of course, looking back in my archives one could argue that it hasn't, but I've been noticing trends and certain pieces in a different light. I've been finding a love for shoes and handbags, as it really adds so much. With a new year comes health changes, money challenges, and new ways I wish to switch up my style choices. Here are just a few...

1. // Wear earrings.
Statement earrings seem to be the new trend, thanks to Instagram. I have always worn gold hoops, but even that is something I never remember to put on. Well, I found some turtle shell patterned earrings at Charming Charlie's during their sale for the new year for only $5. I figured who cares if they aren't my thing for that price, but turns out I'm in love. When my hair is curled adding earrings has been a fun way to dress up my outfits.

2. // Put together a graphic tee collection.
I am not a t-shirt type of girl. I would much rather wear a dress or a lace top with boyfriend jeans. But, over the fall time I found one on Pinterest (see my shoot here) and I've been inspired ever since.

3. // Sport some converse.
Converse are my go-to in the winter time, because it is not cold enough in Cali for boots. I own white ones, but I would love a black pair as well.

4. // Bring back the leather.
Leather jackets were totally me in high school. I miss them so much. A brown one would be fun to have again.

5. // Have a certain decade influence my pieces.
I really love the 60's-70's fashion choices. Mostly, I see it with the bold colors like yellow. And my favorite are the flare jeans. I would love to find a pair that has detail on the sides.

Pumpkin Spice

11.20.2018

ello everyone! I am so excited to share my latest outfit photos, as I have been obsessed with this plaid top. I have recently discovered my love for Lucky Brand, as it fits my style so well. A touch of causal yet classy staple pieces is what I'm all about. I took these photos in the wine country, and I loved how they turned out. Well, one wouldn't exactly know that by the location, but I found this white barn and loved it.

To be honest, I have been very uninspired with my blog. Exploring new places is what sparks my creativity. And when I've lived 12 years in the same town, it is rare to find new locations to shoot, unless I'm willing to drive over an hour to San Diego or Orange County. So, hence my excitement!! Where do you go to gain inspiration?

Goodbye Summer

9.10.2018

ello everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful week. I can't believe I'm here sharing a style inspired post. I have only been creating lifestyle content lately, so an outfit post seems like something to celebrate. I found this top at Lucky Brand (a recent favorite brand), and I love the patterned detail. Plus, my jeans feel very 70's, anyone else with me? This outfit has been very me...it's put together yet simplistic. Well, I guess all of my outfits are east to recreate, but days where I can look this nice seems rare.

I haven't said anything on the blog about it yet, but I recently started working in retail. I love it. It's a lot of work, keeps me busy, but it's been a great change. When I came home from Vanguard the summertime relaxation was so needed. But, I can only take lounging around for a short period of time, before I begin to feel lazy. Granted, I completed six units of college courses this summer, but it's online and easy for me to finish whenever.

So, here I am officially saying goodbye to summer! I'm back to using my day planner and it's packed with so many work and study days. I am on week two of having 9 units in only 8 weeks, and working over 30+hours with my retail job, and being a nanny for two little girls. I am so grateful for all that I have on my plate. I was always on-the-go at college, so it's nice to be back in a rhythm. Plus, now that summer is slowly leaving us...fall is around the corner!

5 Quick Ways To Get Out Of A Funk

8.17.2018

'm going to be honest and say that these past two weeks have been hard on me. I've been in a funk and even though I know the reasonings for what triggers my mood, doesn't mean it suddenly goes away. After many days of sulking and wondering why I'm so miserable, I picked myself up and changed a few of my behaviors.

See? Even though this photoshoot is my absolute favorite in a long time, it doesn't mean I have my life together. I have never in my blogging days bought a boutique of flowers for a shoot. So, this cute element seems like everything is lovely. But, that is the funny thing about anxiety or a funk. It creeps up on me in waves. It can last for a few hours or an entire week.

Difficult days or weeks are always going to be apart of life, and it's so important to know when enough is enough. So, in light of my previous funk, today seemed like a great way to share my coping mechanisms. I've been diligent in doing all five below, and they have helped me more than I thought they would. I'd love to hear yours in the comments too!

1. // Take Care of Yourself
This is seriously the most important aspect for me. Me-time is definitely a factor, but taking care of yourself goes even deeper than Netflix and chill. It's about eating healthy, drinking enough water, keeping busy, being around others who can uplift me, waxing my eyebrows, unfollow people on social media who are toxic for me, getting a cut and color, listening to praise music, and praying.

2. // Talk to Someone About It
I think this is one of the more challenging things you can do, but it's so worth it. Talking to someone helps me see things in a different perspective, and lets me know I'm not alone.

3. // Pull Out Your Journal
Writing down my thoughts will always be a lifesaver for me in whatever season of life I find myself in. It always allows me to process my true feelings. Lately, I have started a poetry journal and I love it. You can write a sentence, poem, one paragraph, or a song...just write!

4. // Get Sweaty
Working out is something I am just recently exploring. I don't like to sweat and sports have never been my thing. But, walking around my neighborhood when I have a lot on my mind, or feel a rush of anxiety take over it's a great way for me to feel more grounded.

5. // Keep Busy
I don't do good sitting around. I have to keep myself busy, preparing for what's to come. The other day I made a list of to-do's for my Master's degree, current textbooks I need to purchase, and job applications to fill out. Having something to look forward to means a lot for me!

San Buenaventura Mission

7.09.2018

kay, I promise this is the last of my vacation photos! It was such a relaxing week, and I am desperately wishing I could rewind time and go back. I started my two summer courses for college this week and it's kinda torture (not really, I'm dramatic). So, looking back on these photographs it makes me extra nostalgic to have those deadline free summer days back!

Anyways, my visit to San Buenaventura Mission was my favorite part of my trip. My dad was so kind and patient to do a little photoshoot for me! Favorite photos ever, probably of this entire year! I found out there are 21 mission in the state of California, and I was very excited to make this one my second. I now want to visit them all, starting with San Juan Capistrano (it's only an hour away from me). I just love how every state has a natural piece of history waiting to be explored, and I think I've found California's!

THE CLOSET CONFIDENTIAL TAG

9.13.2017

o, I've wanted to tackle this fun tag since my old YouTube days probably 3 years ago now, and yes I'm just getting around to it, haha. It's an older tag, you've probably seen it around, but I still love the concept. Answering questions on the blog to make a fun post is always up my alley, because it's the perfect way to share more of my experiences. That way you guys can get to know me a little bit better.

I use to be a fashion blogger and therefore apart of me misses my old roots of talking fashion. I follow many fashion bloggers, and even vloggers and I love learning about the new styles, or see how other's put together their wardrobe, yet it's like I never share my thoughts or personal style anymore.

Why? I don't know, sometimes I actually believe other's do it better than me. My style is simple, and classic. I don't jump on the next trends and then ditch them to buy more Forever 21 pieces. I stick with what I know, and like. You'll probably be able to tell that from my answers below! But below it was so fun to reminisce on some old pieces. It's funny how certain memories or people are connected through a piece of clothing.  How would you describe your style?

TAG QUESTIONS

1. What is the oldest item in your closet?
My oldest and favorite piece in my closet is my jean jacket! If you've been following my blog for a few years, you'd know which one I'm talking about. I use to wear it all the time! Just a classic.

2. What is the newest?
I recently bought these super cute strap up sandals from Target. I love them so much, because I usually can't pull off any type of gladiator styles for my legs, but these one's are just short enough to flatter my feet and legs. I bought the one's in black, and they almost have a felt/velvet texture so it's makes them feel fancy!

3. What is the most expensive?
A black leather jacket from Jennifer Lopez collection. It's seriously the best fit and overall quality of any leather jacket I've had in the past. I've worn it so many times on the blog, you can find it here.

4. Cheapest/most affordable item that you wear/use a lot!
Perhaps it would be a plain black tee from Target. Can you tell I shop there a lot? Haha. Solid color tops are perfect for layering, and it's a simple go-to for me.

5. What was the biggest bargain?
Just lately, I bought this beautiful black lace dress at Stein Mart and I found it on the clearance rack. This dress reminds me of a Nordstrom or Free People dress, so I'd say it was a major score!! I adore dresses, and honestly if I had a little more body confidence, they would be my only clothing choice. I can't wait to wear it for a special occasion.

6. What was the biggest waste of money?
My royal blue high heels I bought to match my homecoming I attended my sophomore year in high school!! I actually can't even believe I still own them in my closet right now. I can't bring myself to get rid of them, but that's because they did cost like fifty dollars, and I only wore them one time. Such a waste, but they were my first official heels ever, so perhaps I also have sentimental reasons of why I'm holding on to them. I actually posted way back when about my homecoming outfit on the blog, check it out!

BONUS - Show us your three wishlist items right now!

Right now I'm obsessed with graphic tees, and I love this one. Girl Power!!  It only comes in one size but something like this style is adorable.

Another wishlist item would be these pink sunglasses. How cute are they?

I love patches or pins on jean jackets, or in this case some faded ripped shorts! This pack is super fun for summer.
