Brown Eye Girl

I've been on the hunt for some ivy covered walls lately, and while I was spotting the perfect location for this outfit, I discovered this wall that's literally by my house! I just think it's the perfect backdrop for summer! This location is around my neighborhood community lake which I walk around all the time, and I cannot believe I didn't notice it before.I saw these gorgeous old walls everyday when I was in Westwood for those few weeks, while my dad was having radiation treatment, and I never got tired of the view. That's one thing I admire about old cities; the architecture and terrain. Everything is unique and fully grown. Where I live, everything is new and nothing is corky or off the wall. I like new and modern but the abstract building walls, or wild ivy fences always seem to inspire me.

Unless I have a date with a girlfriend, or a day planned with my family, you'd probably see me wearing yoga sweat pants, and an oversized t-shirt with very little make-up! I like to blame it on summer because during these months the weather it always in the mid 90's and the last thing I want to go do is take a shower, blow dry my hair, and put on a cute outfit! I always say this around midsummer time, but it's nice to be on a schedule and have places to go during the school year, because summertime for me is so relaxed and easygoing. As much as I love that about my summers, It felt nice this week to be able to get out, and get dressed! Let's face it, feeling beautiful and having somewhere to be can really make you feel alive and full of energy.

This summer I have been addicted to cold beverages because of the hot weather! I talked about iced teas earlier this summer on the blog, and trying new flavors of teas, but right now I've been on a kick for lemonade! I literally never imagined myself saying that, but I picked up some the other day for a night with my friends, and I loved how refreshing it was! Let's hope some lemonade will appear in my next photo shoot, along with my puppy Lily!! What beverages have you been enjoying this summer?

The Heart Of It | Simplicity

Simplicity is something I think everyone needs a little bit more into their daily lives. I feel like we're always on the go and never have time to rest and slow down. With the hustle and bustle of my busy life, I've realized how I've stopped noticing the little things. This summer it was my goal to spend quality time with friends and family and just relax and take a break from the busy school year I had. Thankfully I've managed to have a very laid back kind of summer, but I still feel like there are so many areas in my life where I need more simplicity.

So you're probably wondering what is simplicity, and how in the world can we maintain that type of lifestyle? If you're like me, you've heard the term many times before, and you've heard others mention the idea, but yet you still don't understand the full concept. So for me I like to define simplicity as being plain, and simple but yet still enjoyable. It's not complicated or all over the place but easy going and relaxed.

One of the areas in my life that I feel like it still needs more simplicity, is right here on the blog. Blogging in general isn't easy and a lot of time goes into it. The preparation of putting together a post at least two or three times a week, keeping up with your social media feed, and also commenting and being connected within the blogging community and the blogger friends you've made along the way. Often times I will make certain trips to go visit new locations for photo shoots, or I will buy new ingredients for recipes, and even buy craft items for DIY projects. Hopefully by now, you understand or can even relate with me when I say that blogging takes up a lot of time and is hard work. It's so enjoyable and exciting but not all the time.

As a blogger you have to be fully committed to your content and schedule of posting. If not, it can be pretty crazy and a lot to catch up on. With all of this being said, blogging can sometimes be anything but "simple." Thousands of bloggers are screaming for attention and wanting that Modcloth spotlight, that instead of blogging being an enjoyable love or hobby, it's a competition or contest on who has the largest following and pageviews along with popularity ranking within the community. Even though this comes along with what blogging is, I feel like most bloggers are stripped from their original content of their blog from when they first started out, because of all the spotlight they're wanting. I've been guilty of this myself and lately I've been reminded in a way of why I created my blog, and how I've lost my original content in a way.

When I first began blogging I wanted it to be a lifestyle blog with more journaling thoughts and adventures through my life. Even though most would describe my blog as "lifestyle" blog, I feel like I've stepped away from it a little bit. I don't want to make my blog a fast pace with hundreds of posts every few months, but it to be personal and genuine. I've never wanted blogging to be a chore or a "have to", and lose my passion for why I started in the first place. Sometimes when I focus so much on all the places and things I have to go do for a special post, it steals the joy from where I'm at to begin with. I love having my camera in my hands ready to go to snap beautiful photos, but it's nice to just sit back for a while and enjoy life, not just through a camera lens!

This summer I was needing a refresh through blogging, and my content and I feel like the term simplicity is the perfect concept I've been wanting to find and focus on for this year for A Beautiful Heart. "Simplicity is about subtracting the obvious and adding the meaningful." I love this quote and I think it's the perfect step in the right direction.

Remix Archives // Denim Jacket

My all time favorite piece of clothing in my closet is definitely my denim jacket. I literally wear it everyday, with every outfit. I'm sure that if you pulled up my fashion posts in the past you would see dozens of photos with this jacket! Denim jackets are perfect for the spring and summer because they are light and tend to give no warmth, they are only for style. They are a great style staple piece, because it goes with every color, every pattern, and every style. What ways do you like to style your denim jacket?

I love the fact that denim jackets give an outfit that casual easy going style, but yet it's perfect when you're running late, or when you're not in the mood to put a lot of effort into outfit, and yet they give it that effortless put together look. I've had this jacket for about three years now, and as much as I love the dark jean, I'd love to pick up one that has that light washed look. Either way, I can't image half of my outfits without this denim jacket! I guess I've come to the realization that there are certain pieces of clothing that is worth paying for. I've been trying to stay away from clothing thats cheap quality, and thin material. It's been worth it to save up for that one item I know that will last forever instead of having to constantly replace everything.

On a different note, I hope you all had a wonderful Fourth of July! The three day weekend has been wonderful and most needed. For the fourth I spent the day with my grandparents and had a bbq. It was nice and relaxing and very easy going. As for the remainder of my weekend, I spent a lot of time blogging and filming some new videos along with endless amount of editing. I'm so excited to share with you all my new Youtube channel which I'm hoping to launch within the next week and a half!! Comment below and let me know if there's anything special you'd like to see on my channel! I'm planning on featuring beauty, fashion, monthly favorites, and some awesome series!! Keep your eye out, because it could be any day now, that my channel is live and ready!!
